Il 31 agosto 2014 il progetto si concretizza per la prima volta a Mondovì (CN) con il nome “I Cortili del Tango”.
I partecipanti – cittadinanza, i turisti così come appassionati del Tango richiamati dal nostro invito hanno assistito a uno spettacolo a cielo aperto dove il tango, con le sue radici, la sua storia, la sua evoluzione, è il protagonista e diventa legame tra la gente e la città, trasformata in uno scenario vivente. Lungo tutta la giornata fino a notte fonda si sono svolti in luoghi diversi della città (piazze, cortili, chiese, ecc.) momenti di danza libera, esibizioni, stages, mostre, spettacoli teatrali, convegni a tema, degustazione di prodotti della tradizione argentina e piemontese in una passeggiata tra cultura, musica, spettacolo e tradizione.
Il successo di questa prima manifestazione, ci ha permesso di farne un evento itinerante, dando di volta in volta ad una cittadina diversa l’opportunità di vestirsi per un giorno con gli abiti di una cultura e una tradizione così profondamente legata ai nostri territori, grazie all’enorme flusso migratorio che dall’Italia è approdato in Argentina nei secoli sorsi
L’evento è oggi divenuto ormai un appuntamento fisso nel mondo del Tango italiano e non solo, attraverso 8 successive edizioni.

On 31st August 2014, the project first came to life in Mondovì under the name “I Cortili del Tango”.
Local residents, tourists, and tango enthusiasts alike answered our call, witnessing an open-air spectacle where tango—with its deep roots, history, and evolution—took centre stage. The dance became a bond between the people and the city, transforming the urban landscape into a living stage. From dawn until late into the night, the city’s squares, courtyards, and churches hosted a diverse programme: social dancing, performances, workshops, exhibitions, theatrical shows, and themed conferences. The journey was further enriched by tastings of traditional Argentine and Piedmontese cuisine—a true promenade of culture, music, and tradition.
The resounding success of this debut allowed us to transform the initiative into a touring event. Each year, a different town is given the opportunity to "dress up" in the spirit of a culture so profoundly linked to our own land, a connection forged by the vast waves of Italian migration to Argentina in centuries past.
Today, after eight successful editions, the event has become a landmark date in the Italian tango calendar and beyond.
